This fabulous bakery was founded by Louis Ernest Ladurée in Rue Royale in 1862, in 1930 his grandson, Pierre Desfontaines, had the original idea of the famous macaron that today is the symbol of French luxury bakery. Queen Catherine de' Medici had brought the macaron to France from Italy in the 16th century, and the recipe for the biscuit had hardly varied over the years.

The history of baguette
The history of the baguette
The Baguette is one of the national symbol of France and it refers to a long thin loaf of French bread. The word baguette simply means stick and it was on 1920 that it started to be used in reference to a new shape of bread. in October 1920 a law prevented bakers from working before 4 a.m., making it impossible to make the traditional, round loaf in time for customers' breakfasts. The slender baguette solved the problem, because it could be prepared and baked much more rapidly.
